AND they’re off! Today marks the first day of Cheltenham and guests have been arriving in their favourite hats, dressed to impress.
At Cheltenham, the dress code is more lenient than say Royal Ascot – although if you want to wear a top hat you’re more than welcome.
Most people tend to make a real effort to smarten up – just like these ladies arriving for Day One.
This years event takes place from today and runs until Friday.
The opening races take place today on Champion Day, Wednesday is Ladies Day, Thursday is St Patrick’s Day before the meet concludes on Friday, with Gold Cup Day.
For day one, guests arrived in an array of different styles, from furry hats to coloured Trilbys.
A big trend this year seems to be feathers, as numerous guests rocked up with fluttery headpieces.
Tomorrow will mark Cheltenham’s Ladies Day – so we’ll have to wait and see if the feathered hat trend is as popular for the much-anticipated event.
Every year, racegoers are treated to four days packed full of high-class racing, with some of the biggest names of the sport heading to Gloucestershire to hear the famous roar.
