Hospitals cancel thousands of operations due to strike
Hospitals have had to cancel thousands of routine operations in the worst strike in the NHS for over 20 years.
Nearly 7,000 out of just over 30,000 were thought to have been affected, while tens of thousands of appointments and tests were also hit.
But emergency services were kept running as unions and managers agreed contingency plans ahead of the walkout.
Although in London ambulance crews were only responding to life-threatening calls.
Claire Marshall reports.
