The news will come as a bitter pill to swallow for Wenger, who is already under incredible pressure at the Emirates.

It was assumed the French boss would be given the boot last season after a disastrous campaign saw the club miss out on Champions League football for the first time in his tenure.

However, he was handed a new two-year deal to stay on – but has now lost one of his closest allies from the front-office.

Law was heavily involved in bringing Mesut Ozil to North London from Real Madrid in a £42million deal back in 2013.

In fact, the American had been a key figure in a number of major transfers during his eight-year spell at the Emirates.

Now Arsenal will need to figure out how to replace Law, with Huss Fahmy one name in the frame.

Fahmy was only brought in earlier this year as a ploy to help Alexis Sanchez and Ozil clinch new contracts.

The ex-Team Sky legal and commercial expert could now fill the void left by Law.

Following consecutive defeats away to Stoke and Liverpool - 1-0 and 4-0 respectively - the news couldn't be timed worse for Wenger.
