Admitting she was approaching the age of 78 on the show, the blonde left show hosts and viewers speechless with her radiant appearance.

Donning her famous green lycra T-shirt and leggings that earned her the moniker, the fitness expert showed off her impressively slender and toned figure as she promoted the importance of being 'active' on the show.

Later demonstrating a workout for hosts Janet Street Porter and Coleen Nolan, fans immediately flocked to Twitter to praise her appearance and active ability, despite her age.

Diana found her fame in the 1980s, when she instructed the women and men of Britain to ‘wake up and shape up’ in her regular televised workout slots on BBC1’s Breakfast Time.

Speaking to MailOnline last year, the star admitted that she can hardly believe how much things have changed in terms of health and fitness, when looking back at her TV heyday.

She said: ‘In the 1980s there just wasn’t the awareness of what we should be eating and how we should be exercising.

'Exercise was left to the blokes and carried out in sweaty, dirty old gyms where they would box or play badminton. They weren’t a place for a woman – I felt a novelty.’

However despite her healthy exterior, her life has not been without hardship, after she was diagnosed with cancer twice since her early 40s.

Diana first survived breast cancer in her 40s, having a double mastectomy in 1987 at the height of her fame.

She then went on to be diagnosed with skin cancer in her 60s, thanks to a youthful obsession with unprotected sunbathing.

Talking to MailOnline at the time, Diana had admitted that she was afraid to reach out for support from fans in light of her 'healthy' image.

She said: 'I was so ashamed of it. How could I be this goddess telling the nation how to get fit when my body was riddled with disease?'

However after successful treatment, Diana has religiously covered up from the blazing rays ever since, adding: 'I do still go out in it, but now I enjoy its rays safely under the awning on a boat or, best of all, beneath a patch of swaying palms in the Caribbean with a cold glass of white wine in one hand.'
