A married Illinois couple has been arrested for sexually abusing a five-year old girl.

Police say David Brian Armstrong, 33, and Danielle Armstrong, 22, had sex with the victim as well as forced the child to perform oral sex on David Armstrong in their Alton home.

The two were arrested after the victim told her grandmother what happened to her, who in turn notified police. News of the crime has shaken up the Saint Louis, Missouri suburb.

Lieutenant Scott Golike told the MailOnline that nothing like this incident has ever happened on his watch. 'It's a horrible crime,' Lieutenant Golike said.

Accused: Police say David Brian Armstrong, 33, and Danielle Armstrong, 22, had sex with the victim as well as forced the child to perform oral sex

David and Danielle Armstrong were arrested on Wednesday after a tip came through the Illinois state sexual abuse hotline, police told the MailOnline.

'The victim reported it to another family member who reported it to police,' an official from the Madison County State's Attorney's Office said to the MailOnline.

The complaint alleges that the abuse of the girl took place over the course of a week between July 1 and July 8 of this month.

Both Armstrongs were charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Danielle Armstrong was charged with 'committing an act of sexual penetration' and placing her mouth on the child's genitals.

Authorities say that David Armstrong also penetrated the girl, in addition to forcing the child to perform oral sex.

Neither of the Armstrongs has a record of sexual abuse or pedophilia, officials told the MailOnline, as this was their first sexual offense.

The two are currently in the custody of the court and have been held on bond of $150,000 each.

Danielle Armstrong's daughter, who is not biologically related to David Armstrong, has been removed from their care and placed with the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services.

'I can be a misanthrope, as most humans disgust me.'

Officials would not confirm if the victim was her daughter.

The pair married September of 2009, according to their Facebook accounts.

David and Danielle Armstrong make their living selling antiques on EBay, under the name 'David and Danielle's Collectables.'

They sell vintage baseball cards through the website, which ranks them very highly as sellers.

David Armstrong is a 'practicing survivalist.'

'I am able to survive anyplace in North America, with little more then a knife,' he says in his page.

'I can be a misanthrope, as most humans disgust me. I'm a self proclaimed recluse, I despise leaving my "Keep" unless it is for a valid reason.'

Danielle has a more optimistic profile, which features photographs of her family and her pets.

'My daughter is my world,' she writes. 'I have the most amazing life ever!'

If convicted, both could be incarcerated for as long as 60 years and as little as six. It was not immediately clear if either had an attorney.
