Pals of jilted fiance head off to Magaluf leaving him at pub near home after bride ‘vanished with £11k stag do fund’
Stag do pals who were allegedly fleeced out of their £11,000 trip fund ended up going on holiday without the embarrassed groom.
Chris Mahone and his friends were left reeling after Rachel Doran allegedly scarpered with the money saved for his stag do .
But eight of those who had been due to go to Ibiza with Chris jetted off instead to Magaluf, on Majorca.
They posted snaps of the boozy break and looked to be having the time of their lives – albeit without Chris.
Commenting on one snap, Lee Joseph Curnow wrote in local lingo: “Garnnnn the bois”.
Chris was left to continue a three-day booze bender with the pals who stayed home in Cleator Moor, near Whitehaven, Cumbria.
Friend Glyn added: “We’re making sure Chris has a good time anyway.”
They toured a string of local pubs, including the bar of football club Cleator Moor Celtic, before moving on to Whitehaven, where Wetherspoon’s The Bransty Arch is a favourite haunt.
The drinking started on Thursday, shortly after the party was turned away from a 6.45am Jet2 flight at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Chris was left humiliated and reeling in shock after he and his pals approached check-in only to find their boarding passes were fake.
Runaway bride Rachel now faces a police probe after claims she left them stranded and unable to fly to Ibiza.
Instead, Chris and his stunned posse retreated home.
He was seen briefly yesterday – wearing blue shorts and a Man United top – when he popped back home before joining pals at a local bar.
Rachel, meanwhile, was understood to be at a coastal caravan site in Allonby, 20 miles away.
Friends say heartbroken Chris has “been going through hell” since the drama unfolded on Thursday.
And one close pal said Chris had told him: “I’ll shop her to police.”
The friend also denied claims Rachel had a motive for revenge because Chris had cheated on her.
Glyn Edwards, who spent yesterday consoling Chris, told the Sunday Mirror: “He’s said the police will definitely be informed. Any suggestion Chris has been playing around with another woman is totally incorrect.
“There’s no way that Chris would cheat.”
It is alleged Rachel pocketed the £11,000 handed over by the pals to pay for the flights and accommodation.
One theory was that she acted out of revenge after wrongly believing Chris had cheated on her. A neighbour who saw Chris pop home yesterday said: “He’s usually a really happy chirpy lad, but he looked like he’d barely slept.
“He’s going through hell at the minute, he doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going. He’s devastated.
“I feel so sorry for the lad, I’ve known him years and he’s a really good kid.
“He still can’t understand why Rachel’s done this to him.”
Chris and Rachel got together in March 2015 after bonding through a shared interest in sport, including rugby league and boxing.
They got engaged just six months later and were planning a white wedding in December.
Chris’s spirits were lifted yesterday by a string of messages from admirers – including a marriage proposal.
Katiee Louisexx, from Nottingham, said on Facebook: “I will marry you lol.”
Debbie Willam, wrote: “You’re way too good looking for her anyway. She did you a favour.”
Natalia Gracey posted: “Change your profile pic cut that b**** out of your life.”
And Aishling Hughes added: “She was punching well above her weight anyway! X.”
Chris’s pal Glen Meagan later wrote on Facebook: “Tell you what, son. There’s birds all over the country wanting you in these comments.”
