Notorious prisoner Charles Bronson’s wife-to-be poses in gown as she prepares for jail marriage

A bride-to-be excitedly tries on a gown as she prepares for a bizarre white wedding – behind bars.

Soap actress Paula Williamson , 36, is getting ready to marry Britain’s most notorious prisoner, Charles Bronson.

A groom renowned for extreme violence who has spent 38 of his 43 years in jail in solitary confinement after repeatedly having his sentence increased for attacking prison staff and taking them hostage.

Last week Paula and Bronson, 64 – who changed his name to Charles Salvador after his favourite artist – discussed their vows with the governor at Wakefield Prison as they await a date from the authorities.

They are expected to tie the knot before the armed robber and bare-knuckle boxer’s parole hearing in autumn.

Paula has had small roles as a Weatherfield Hospital nurse in three episodes of Coronation Street and played a stripper in Emmerdale, as well as a doctor in Hollyoaks.

She said: “This isn’t how I planned my life but you can’t help who you fall in love with – and I am in love.

“When I was younger I wanted to be a successful actress.

“Now I’m known for marrying Britain’s most infamous prisoner. But I am happy.”

She said Bronson is having the ring specially made.

“It will be inscribed CPS for Charlie Paula Salvador – but also because it stands for the Crown Prosecution Service. That’s Charlie’s sense of humour.

“But Charlie is not the monster people think he is, and for that day he won’t just be a prisoner, he will be my groom.”

The pair will be allowed five guests, including two witnesses. Paula, who fell for him after the two became pen pals, said: “We will have another big ceremony once Charlie is out.

“We may not be able to spend the night together but I will still have the wedding underwear and the garter and Charlie will know that.”

Paula went shopping last week with a friend and tried on a range of white dresses.

She is keeping the design she chose as a surprise for Charlie.

Charlie’s mum, Eira, will be at the service.

There will be a reception at a nearby pub.

Bronson popped the question on the phone earlier this year and sent a diamond engagement ring to her home.
