Own goal Joel Ward

15:2423 minsminute by minute

Excellent play by Aaron Mooy down the left flank, twisting and turning to beat Joel Ward and then gain a corner for his side. Town have been the better side in the last five minutes or so and their dominance is starting to show.

Another good strike at goal by Huddersfield, this time it is Billing who unleashed a powerful shot at goal from the edge of the box, but once again it is straight at the Palace keeper. Either side of the goalkeeper and that just might have been heading into the back of the net!

MATCH STAT: Since 2008-09, only four newly promoted sides have won on the opening day in the Premier League. All four, like Huddersfield, had won promotion via the play-offs.

Decent effort at goal by Kasey Palmer. The Town midfielder made a driving run from the heart of the Town midfield, but his shot at goal was straight at Hennessey after being put under pressure from the Palace defence.

Good counter-attack by the visitors! It was a great pass into Ince from Phillip Billing, and the former Palace player pulled the ball back across goal, but Scott Dann slides in to clear the ball. Lovely move from the visitors who now have a corner, which comes to nothing.

Huddersfield are well supported here at Selhurst Park, with plenty of fans making the trip from Yorkshire to the capital. So far they are seeing a positive display from their side, despite a lot of Palace possession, they haven’t threatened the Town goal.

Possession

The visitors are certainly not afraid to put their foot in here, the referee has already awarded quite a few free-kicks to Palace in the middle of the pitch for late challenges. Town skipper Smith, is now being spoken to by the referee regarding the amount of fouls.

There is still an excellent pace to the game, but Palace have now started to dominate possession in the middle of the pitch. However, the Terriers are closing their opponents down quickly and cutting out the space to exploit their defence, keeping Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Wilfried Zaha under wraps so far.

Crystal Palace have lost three of their last four opening-day matches in the Premier League. As the Eagles begin their ninth Premier League campaign, with Frank de Boer the seventh different man to have been in charge on the opening day of the season. Plenty of familar faces in this Palace team today, with the new manager expected to make more signings before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.

Huddersfield have the first corner of the game, but the set piece is too heavy and it allows Hennessey to command his area and claim the ball. Just moments later, Palace counter-attack and win a corner of their own through Christian Benteke. Once again, the corner comes to nothing.

15:075 minsminute by minute

Both teams are struggling to put together a period of sustained possession at the moment, it is end to end at the moment with both teams trying to move forward with pace and grab an early advantage.

15:052 minsminute by minute

WHAT A CHANCE! Tom Ince has a fantastic opportunity to open the scoring for the Terriers just minutes into the game! The Town skipper Tommy Smith did well down the right flank, then Elias Kachunga managed to pick an unmarked Ince out in the box with his cross, but the wingers volley is straight at Wayne Hennessey! A comfortable save for the Palace keeper, but an early warning there for the hosts.

Hello and welcome to our live match commentary of the Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and newly promoted Huddersfield Town.

13:20

Welcome!

Crystal Palace have only won one of their last five opening day games in the Premier League.

But new boss Frank de Boer will be looking to improve that record today as he launches his Selhurst Park reign.

The decorated Dutchman insists a mid-table finish at Crystal Palace will give him the same satisfaction as winning the title with Ajax did as he begins his first season outside of football’s elite.

De Boer, 47, built his reputation as a classy central defender in a Holland team that challenged for the World Cup and European Championships and with Ajax and Barcelona where he won league titles and the Champions League.

And he knows life in England won’t be easy. Especially today when the Eagles face newly-promoted Huddersfield Town, who will be out to spring a surprise in south London.

So, will David Wagner’s men take all points back to Yorkshire? Find out here as we deliver all the drama as it happens, here…
