Liverpool arrive in Hong Kong ahead of Premier League Trophy competition as pre-season preparations continue

Liverpool received a raucous reception when they landed in Hong Kong ahead of the Premier League Trophy.

The Reds are competing in the tournament as part of their pre-season preparations and will spent six days in the city.

Liverpool will take on Crystal Palace on Wednesday, before facing off against either West Brom or Leicester City in either the final or the third place play-off.

Jurgen Klopp has taken a strong team to Asia for the competition.

Sadio Mane, however, has not travelled with the team for the tour as he continues his recovery from injury.

Mane picked up the knee problem at the end of last season and is in a race against time to be fit for the start of this campaign.

New signing Mo Salah is almost a straight replacement for Mane and he has been included in the squad following his £39million move from Roma.

Salah scored on his Reds debut on Friday night as he tapped home in the 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic.

Liverpool’s only other summer signing so far, Dominic Solanke, will also feature in the Premier League Asia Trophy.

Defender Mamadou Sakho is missing as he remains on the lookout for a new club following a loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.

And Lucas Leiva has also been left behind to complete his move to Lazio.

Emre Can has not travelled as he has not yet returned following his time off after Germany’s successful Confederations Cup campaign.
