Ronald Koeman backing Ajax to beat Manchester United in UEFA’s Europa League final

Ronald Koeman is backing Ajax to beat Manchester United in UEFA’s Europa League final.

Everton’s Dutch boss has told his former club that Jose Mourinho’s men are not invincible ahead of Wednesday night’s showdown in Stockholm.

And he has warned United the Amsterdam giants will be going on all-out attack to lift the trophy and claim a place in next season’s Champions League.

Koeman said: “It is a great final between two clubs with a huge history and massive names in international football.

“Ajax have a serious chance in Stockholm.

“I have said it before, Manchester United are not an invincible team. United are a club which is many, many times bigger. They have made far bigger investments than anyone else and this is why their squad has more experienced players.

“But that is not a guarantee. The youth of Ajax and their adventurous style have brought Ajax to the final.”

And Koeman is weighing up a £60million swoop on his ex-club for midfielder Davy Klaassen, striker Kasper Dolberg and defender Davinson Sanchez.

Koeman said: “In the Premier League we need technically and tactically gifted players.

“Players from Holland are still a bit short physically, but you can work on that.

“The pace of the game is something they can get used to.

“But Ajax are proving they are still a big source of talent.”
